Board Members

Steve Thompson                 

Steve is the Investment Specialist for Skylight Financial Group with 17 years of experience in the investment arena. In addition, he is a Special Care Planner having made a commitment to serve people with disabilities and their families. As a member of the Skylight Special Needs Team, Steve’s objective is to help clients reach their financial goals, through the use of comprehensive, integrated financial planning. Steve is a graduate of Miami University with a Bachelors of Science Finance degree. Steve also holds a Masters of Science in Financial Services, MSFS, from the Institute of Business and Finance.Steve holds the following FINRA registrations: FINRA Series 24 (General Securities Principal); FINRA Series 53 (Municipal SecuritiesPrincipal) and FINRA Series 4 (Registered Options Principal). He has also earned the Board Certified in Asset Allocation (BCAA), Certified Annuity Specialist (CAS) & CFS designation. In 2007, Steve joined the Board of Directors for the Easter Seals Northern Ohio chapter and began volunteering at Fieldstone Farms-equine therapeutic riding for Special Needs children. Steve resides in Chagrin Falls and has three children who attend Chagrin Falls Schools.

Minna Zelch   

Minna has worked in the educational publishing industry for over 20 years and specializes in creating English/Language Arts curriculum and assessments. She is a graduate of Washington University with a BA in Political Science and Education Studies and holds an EdM in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Minna resides in South Russell with her husband and two children, both of whom have dyslexia and ADHD.

Amy Myers   

Amy has two daughters in the Chagrin Falls Schools and a son currently at Lawrence School. She serves on the Board of Trustees of Lawrence School and has been active in the Chagrin PTO. She attended Vanderbilt University receiving her Bachelors of Science degree in Neuroscience. Having two children with Dyslexia and ADHD has put her on the path of advocating for their educational needs. She continues to become more educated on the policy issues that surround special education and the resources available for children and families with learning differences. Amy has a passion for networking with families to help create a community where children and parents can feel supported in their journey.

Beth Anne Harbaugh

Beth works as an educational aide and offers support to students with Autism as a member of Geauga County’s STARS (Specialized Teaching for students with Autism and Resource Support) classroom in Timmons Elementary in Kenston Schools.  She is a graduate of Rowan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Public Relations. Beth and her husband Tony are the proud parents of two Chagrin Falls students.  Ryan is in the High School and a member of the Academy of Performing Arts as well as the HS Select choir.  Sean is in the Middle School and also loves singing and performing.  Sean happens to have Appraxia, Motor Planning/Processing Delays as well as Autism and we have been on the special education/IEP journey since Sean was 3.

Dixie J. Singer, Emeritus                    

Dixie is the President of Yours Truly Restaurants and past President of the Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband Alec are the proud parents of Theron Singer and Rand Singer.  Theron has been diagnosed with Autism and/or PDD-NOS and is training at Cuyahoga Vocational Education Consortium (CVEC).

Jennifer Treadway Burke, Emeritus   

Jenny has a law degree and a master of social work. She is the founder of a new online business MooBoo Resources that produces parent and kid friendly autism teaching tools designed to build cognitive, communication, social and problem-solving skills.  Jenny and her husband Tim have two kids who are graduates of Chagrin Schools: Molly, a student at Boston University, and Danny, a music student at Capital University, who also happens to have autism.
